This past weekend, I attended the 3rd Annual “It’s All Good” event, organized by be the example, a 501(c)3 organization created to provide opportunities to inspire and empower others to recognize and embrace the gifts that lay in the heart (compassion, kindness, gratitude, love, understanding) and to pay them forward.

What is “it’s all good!”? Let’s start with what it is not. It is not a health and wellness fair, not a psychic fair, not a symposium, expo or a conference and not a festival. It is a unique event, a gathering, created to provide a “feel good” day to all who attend. It is a day to feed your soul, expand your mind and feel connected.

We facilitated a communal sand mandala and were honored to be a part of this lovely event and meet so many wonderful people.  Thank you so much to Debbie Goldman for organizing “It’s All Good” and inviting us to participate.

I attended a Sacred Yantra Painting Intensive with Mavis Gewant and Pieter Weltevrede this past weekend. They both were very close students of the late Tantric Artist and Yogi Shri Harish Johari.  It was a wonderful class at Ananda Ashram in Monroe NY.

We each created a Hindu yantra, and/or deity painting done in gouache and watercolors. I also brought many pieces that I had started and got the expert advice I needed to finish them.

Below are a few photos from this event. (More here.)

We had a fun packed evening of art, music and beauty at the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors this weekend for their Autumnal Equinox Celestial Celebration and Full Moon Ceremony. On Saturday, September 21 we gathered for meditation, dancing, live painting, fire spinning, a laser-light show and even a wedding! (Congratulations again to the happy couple!)

Our contribution was a communal sand mandala. Below are a few photos from the event. (The full album can be viewed here.)

The DrUUmatics were on News 12! (Don’t blink or you might miss us.)

We performed at a rally in Mineola Thursday night to support homeowners affected by Hurricane Sandy who are still waiting for FEMA aid 10 months after the storm. FEMA has not provided coverage to many Americans displaced or affected by the storm because of a loophole in the national flood insurance law (any property loss caused by earth movement – even if that movement was caused by a flood – is not covered).

Check out some of our beautiful pictures from the grounds at the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors. On August 4, we got to meet Chris Dyer, graffiti artist extraordinaire after his live graffiti demo and workshop.

His finished graffiti piece is below…

What a joyous few days of studying with the brilliant, beautiful, fierce, creative genius Amanda Sage at CoSM! I learned so much in such a short time… my brain is swelling. I really resonated with the “Painting with Light” class, as our mandala classes also focus on light. Amanda was so fully present and knowledgeable… She gave us so many great pointers from supplies to buy, setting up our palettes, creating washes, etc.

Here are some photos of my time at CoSM with Amanda…

We are back from an amazing week with Alex and Allyson Grey at the Visionary Art Intensive at Omega Institute July 2013. It was a magical gathering of conscious and creative beautiful, loving souls. What an honor to be with my dear friends and mentors, the Greys, and all the amazingly talented and inspiring visionary artists. I was honored to have been the Greys’ assistant and have such gratitude for this blessing. I was able to teach painting ideas and facilitate a communal sand mandala.

And so the Visionary Art Love Tribe Family continues to grow…

Thank you to all of you who joined us at our class, The Mandala: Drawing Sacred Symbols for Awakening & Healing, at Omega Institute last week! And thank you to all our friends who held us in your hearts and sent your good intentions our way…

What a joyous week, with such wonderful participants – each one adding their own gifts, talents and lessons. I feel so grateful to be able to share this great work.

This past Saturday, on September 25th, I was honored and privileged to take part in A Day of Drum and Dance and facilitate a communal sand mandala at the South Nassau Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Freeport, NY. What an amazing day of community and celebration, with rhythm, dance, spirit and soul!

The day featured John “Jembe John” Ward teaching traditional African rhythms, Nydia “Liberty” Mata teaching Latin rhythms, Khadyjah Harper-Alleyne teaching traditional West African rhythms and dances, the beautiful and graceful Janeena teaching Middles Eastern belly dancing, and Edwina Lee Tyler stirring all our souls with her spiritual drumming class. Her teaching, singing and performance touched us all on a deep level and opened our hearts.

The turnout was great, but more important than that was that the energy of the group was awesome. It truly represented the group intention we held in our hearts as we did the communal mandala: to create peace though community. Like the Unitarian Universalists that hosted the gathering, we held that our drumming and dancing would break down all barriers and differences, unite us in love and light… We held that we would have unconditional love for all regardless of age, race, religion, sexual orientation, political affiliation, familial structure, income or abilities and remember that we are all ONE.

Thank you to the UU of Freeport, all teachers, participants, and the hardworking, dedicated, organizers Sharon Nanos, Lauren D’Angelo, Gretchen Rieger, Terri Rubenstein, and Gail Goldstein, etc. I send my love and gratitude.
